When i marry my fiance, do i take his full hyphenated last name?

I am engaged to a man with a hyphenated last name. He does not want to drop one or the other, they are part of who he is. I agree. But should I take on his full hyphenated last name? Should our future children? or should I take on his more common last name, and have our children do the same. I want all of our names to be legally the same, and he understands, but I don't want him to change his identity.
