Why does my hair feel course after i wash it?

I have processed hair and sometimes i wash it myself instead of going to the hairdresser. I use shampoo and conditioner as well as deep conditioner but i realize that my hair ends up feeling course and not silky when i dry it. I put it in setters and blow dry it but it doesn't feel the same as when i do it at the hair dresser. Why is that?
